Officiating

All dual meets, invitational meets, and

the Allan Nelson DSA Championships

are run by Certified Volunteer Officials to ensure that all swimmers are following the

USA Swimming Stroke and Turn Rules.

2025 Officiating

Officials Requirements

At every meet, all teams are required to have 1 certified official present. Teams with 30 or more swimmers must have at least 2 certified officials at every meet. Officials are volunteers who have passed a DSA Officials Training Class or have certification from another recognized organization.

Certification Opportunities

Volunteer officials must participate in a DSA training class and pass a short test to learn the rules for each stroke, individual medley and relays. The certification is good for one season

USA, YMCA, or High School certified officials do not require additional DSA training but must submit the Proof of Certification Form linked below.

Officials with at least two years of DSA stroke and turn experience, USA, YMCA Level II, or HS certification are eligible for the additional Starter/Referee class.

All 2024 training sessions are complete.
